How these numbers are made
  • Individual bills are confidential in California, so we calculate yours from public rates and what you tell us.
  • Water (the "current" column of the City's January 2026 rate study): bi-monthly fixed charge $48.62 for a 5/8 x 3/4-inch meter, shown as $24.31 a month, plus $2.60 per CCF up to 10.5 CCF a month and $5.87 per CCF above. The study proposed a five-year water and sewer increase that would take effect May 1, 2026; we could not confirm whether the City adopted it, so these rates may be out of date. The page starts at 12 CCF a month, the study's typical use of 8,975 gallons.
  • Sewer: the study's "current" bi-monthly fixed sewer charge of $15.24 (first column of its table, residential 5/8 x 3/4-inch meter), shown as $7.62 a month; this matches the $7.62 sewer part of the study's typical monthly bill. OC San's $397 regional sewer fee is on the property tax bill; the $108 local fee applies where OC San runs the local sewer, which the City does here. The study proposed sewer increases from 2026; we could not confirm adoption, so this may be out of date.
  • Trash: Republic Services' curbside rate of $28.73 a month from July 1, 2026 for trash, recycling and organics carts of any size, billed by the City on the utility bill.
  • Property tax: tax rate area 11-002 (Santa Ana Unified, Rancho Santiago Community College District, MWD), one of several Santa Ana areas with the same total of 1.14059%; a few areas in Tustin or Garden Grove school districts differ. We found no other city flat charge on the tax bill; the page uses Census median market value, but Prop 13 assessed values are often far lower. The SoCalGas $0.16-a-day fixed charge is from September 2025 while the per-therm figure is derived from August 2026, so the split is approximate. We did not check for an SCE rate change after June 2026.
  • Electricity: SCE bundled Domestic rate from SCE's June 2026 comparison page (Santa Ana is not an Orange County Power Authority city) plus the base services charge; gas: SoCalGas average non-CARE rate, as in other Orange County cities.
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.
