How these numbers are made
  • Individual bills are confidential in California, so we calculate yours from public rates and what you tell us.
  • Taxes use the LA County 2026-27 rates for the Los Angeles Unified part of Carson with the $7,000 homeowners exemption; flat charges are Measure W (county median for Carson), the Central Basin MWD standby charge and the GLACVCD vector assessment.
  • Trash: the City's maximum rate schedule for July 2024 to June 2025 shows $334.54 a year on the tax bill for standard service; WM says rates did not change when it replaced Waste Resources on May 1, 2026. We could not find a 2026-27 schedule.
  • Water: Cal Water SBR-1-R tariff effective 10/1/2026 (subject to refund). Surcharges are not included. Parts of Carson are served by other water suppliers. The water bill is very sensitive to monthly usage because the rate jumps from $1.93 to $7.73 per ccf after 6 ccf, so enter your own usage; the default usage is an assumption, not a Carson figure. Sewer: the $243.96 is a District 8 FY2026-27 figure we could not confirm as adopted (the District's report was not reachable); the last adopted rate we saw was lower.
  • Electric and gas use the SCE July 2026 domestic rate and SoCalGas March 2026 averages as in other Southern California pages. The 2% utility users tax is added to electricity and gas from a June 2022 City notice (we did not read the code text); seniors 62+ and low-income households are exempt and the estimate does not apply that exemption.
  • If standard service is not on the tax bill, WM likely bills directly; extra carts are billed monthly by WM. UUT per June 2022 City notice: seniors 62+ and low-income households are exempt.
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.
