How these numbers are made
  • Individual bills are confidential in California, so we calculate yours from public rates and what you tell us.
  • Water: City of Camarillo water (about 14,000 connections) is the default; Camrosa Water District serves the Mission Oaks area, and Pleasant Valley Mutual (Camarillo Heights), California American Water (around Las Posas Country Club), Crestview Mutual and Ventura County Waterworks District No. 19 serve smaller areas that are not modeled. City water: the July 1, 2026 step of the four-year plan adopted May 14, 2025: $38.33 a month for a 3/4-inch meter and $3.90, $5.78 and $7.83 per HCF for the first 9, next 6 and over 15 HCF a month (tier limits from the 2025 rate study; the published bill examples at the July 2025 rates match these limits). Camrosa: July 2026 rates, $19.19 a month for a 3/4-inch meter and $4.70 per HCF for the first 12 units and $5.39 above; the $0.12 per HCF pump zone surcharge for higher areas is left out. The page starts at 12 HCF a month, the City's typical single-family use.
  • Sewer: the Camarillo Sanitary District's flat single-family rate of $99.99 a month from July 1, 2026, billed by the City. Homes in Camrosa's sewer area pay Camrosa's wastewater charge instead ($60.11 per equivalent dwelling unit for July 2026 in its schedule), which is not modeled. Trash: E.J. Harrison's Schedule I rates effective July 1, 2026, $38.94 a month for Standard Service-1 (64-gallon trash cart), billed by E.J. Harrison every two months.
  • Property tax: Ventura County's 2026-27 rates for tax rate area 07001 (the 1% levy, two Pleasant Valley School District bond rates, four Oxnard high school bond rates, Ventura County Community College District bonds and Metropolitan Water District), 1.0959% in total; 325 of the 374 Camarillo city tax rate areas in the county's 07001-07999 rate book carry this same total, and the rest (Somis, Rio or Mesa elementary areas, or areas with a United Water Conservation District levy) range from 1.0830% to 1.1225%. The $7,000 homeowners' exemption comes off the value you enter. The starting value is the Census median market value; under Prop 13 a home's assessed value can be far lower.
  • Fixed charges: the Ventura County Watershed Protection District benefit assessment for Camarillo in Zone 3 ($26.81 operations and maintenance + $4.35 District NPDES + $5.00 City NPDES = $36.16 a year for a standard 0.2-acre single-family lot), from the District's latest Report on Benefit Assessment Program (labeled FY 2025/2026, prepared March 18, 2026). Larger lots pay more. Not included because the amount depends on the parcel or we could not confirm it for 2026-27: water standby charges, landscape or lighting maintenance district charges and Mello-Roos or other special taxes some tracts carry. Your tax bill lists them.
  • Electricity: SCE's joint rate comparison with Clean Power Alliance for the Domestic rate with CPA 100% Green Power, which Clean Power Alliance lists as Camarillo's preferred energy option ($0.40019 per kWh in total; SCE rates as of June 1, 2026 and CPA rates as of July 1, 2026; the comparison's $209.30 average bill at 523 kWh equals that rate times the usage, so it is a year-round average), plus SCE's $24.15 monthly Base Services Charge. Customers who chose Lean Power pay $0.36641 per kWh. Gas: SoCalGas's August 2026 average non-CARE bill ($68.91 at 35 therms), taken as including the $0.16-a-day customer charge (about $4.87 a month), so $4.87 a month plus $1.830 per therm. Insurance starts at the 2022 California average.
