Who serves this house
- Water
- City of Huntington Park water system
- City of Huntington Park water: the only rates we found are the City's posted 2017 rates, listed for 2+ unit and commercial accounts: a fixed monthly water meter charge of $6.35 for a 5/8-inch meter plus a consumption charge of $2.54. The City's page lists no separate single-family rate, does not name the unit and may be out of date, so treat the water line as a rough estimate.

How these numbers are made
- Individual bills are confidential in California, so we calculate yours from public rates and what you tell us.
- Water: about 83% of Huntington Park's single-family parcels fall inside the City of Huntington Park water system and about 15% inside Maywood Mutual Water Company's systems, with about 2% in Walnut Park Mutual (EPA water system boundaries against county parcel centroids), so the page uses the City system. Its posted rates, labeled 2017, are $6.35 a month for a residential meter plus $2.54 per unit of water, which we take to be per HCF (the City's 2012 rate action priced water per HCF and its 2011 rate notice defined 1 billing unit as 748 gallons); we found no later rate change in City Council agendas or minutes from 2024 to 2026 (a water rate study began in 2024), but the City's page may be out of date. The City reads meters every other month; the page shows monthly amounts and starts at 9 CCF a month because the City publishes no typical use. Maywood Mutual and Walnut Park Mutual customers pay those companies' rates, which we could not find online, and see the City's rates here. The unit is our assumption and the rate has not been confirmed with the City; this is a rough estimate.
- Trash: Valley Vista Services' standard single-family rate in the 2023 franchise agreement ($16.28 a month, including the 15% franchise fee and the AB 939 fee, for a 96-gallon trash, recycling and green waste cart) raised by the 5% consumer price index adjustment the City Council approved on October 1, 2024, so $17.09 a month. The agreement allows a yearly CPI adjustment of up to 5%; we found no 2025 or 2026 adjustment in Council agendas or minutes, so the current bill may be somewhat higher. Unpaid trash bills can be placed on the property tax roll.
- Property tax: tax rate area 00588, which holds 1,724 of Huntington Park's 2,758 single-family parcels: the 1% levy, the City's voter-approved pension tax (0.21000 per $100 for 2026-27, adopted August 11, 2026), the 2026-27 Los Angeles Unified and Los Angeles Community College District bond rates from the LA County tax rate resolution, and the Metropolitan Water District's 0.0085% (1.383222% in total), less the $7,000 homeowners' exemption, applied to the value you enter. The starting value is the median 2026 roll value of those single-family parcels; Prop 13 values of long-held homes are often far below market.
- Flat charges on the tax bill for 2026-27: LA County Sanitation District No. 1's sewer charge (we use the current $205 per single-family home; the District proposed $238 for 2026-27 but we found no record of its adoption), the City's Measure L street lighting, parks and landscaping special tax ($146.28 for a single-family residence, adopted July 28, 2026), the Greater LA County Vector Control assessment ($18.97 for parcels of an acre or less), Metropolitan Water District's $10.44 standby charge for Central Basin MWD lands, and Measure W at 2.5 cents per square foot of impermeable area, where we use the median for Huntington Park single-family parcels in the county's Safe Clean Water tax layer ($84.49). Not included because they vary by parcel or we found no per-home rate: the City's own sewer charge (the City runs a sewer enterprise fund, about $270,000 a year in sewer maintenance revenue, but publishes no rate), City water standby charges, the LA County flood control assessment, the trauma and emergency services tax and the county park district assessment.
- Electricity: SCE's standard Domestic rate with SCE generation from the SCE/CPA joint rate comparison ($0.37392 per kWh in total, SCE rates as of June 1, 2026; its $195.56 average bill at 523 kWh equals that rate times the usage), plus SCE's $24.15 monthly Base Services Charge. Gas: SoCalGas's March 2026 average non-CARE bill ($72.39 at 35 therms), taken as including the $0.16-a-day customer charge (about $4.87 a month), so $4.87 a month plus $1.929 per therm. Both are averages; real bills vary by season. Huntington Park's 9.75% utility users tax on gas and electricity (FY 2026-27 budget) is added. Insurance starts at the 2022 California average.
- Senior trash discount: the 2023 franchise agreement defines qualifying seniors as 62 or older who also qualify for Edison's CARE discount, reside at and own or lease the premises, with the bill in their name; the City's page describes the discount more loosely, so check eligibility with Valley Vista Services. Sewer: the District postponed adopting the 2026-27 rate from its May 13, 2026 hearing; we use the current $205 until adoption is confirmed. Water: the $6.35 and $2.54 rates are posted for 2+ unit and commercial accounts; we apply them to single-family homes as a rough proxy.

Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
