How these numbers are made
  • Individual bills are confidential in California, so we calculate yours from public rates and what you tell us.
  • Water: City of Adelanto Water Department (EPA system CA3610001), single-family rates as posted on the City rates page, billed monthly: $32.28 base charge for up to a 1-inch meter and $2.91 per CCF for the first 15 CCF and $5.42 above that. The City page labels these as effective July 1, 2020 and I found no newer schedule; the signed schedule PDF the page links to is a scan that cannot be read as text. Rates may be higher now. The page starts at the default 9 CCF because Adelanto publishes no typical use. Sewer: $61.06 a month flat for a single-family home; about 85% of development in the City is connected (2016 sewer-area report), so homes on septic pay no City sewer charge.
  • Trash: Burrtec bills residential service through the County property tax bill, so it is counted once, as a yearly charge on the tax bill ($43.91 a month for the 95-gallon bin x 12). The 2026/2027 figures come from Burrtec's Summer 2026 Adelanto newsletter, which does not say monthly or annual; the City's page lists the same service as a monthly rate with a separate annual rate ($37.21 and $446.52 for 95-gallon in 2024), so we treat the newsletter figures as monthly. All service includes recycling and organics containers.
  • Property tax: Adelanto tax rate area 014-023 holds about 29% of Adelanto's homeowners' exemptions in the county's 2025 tax rate area map (the next four largest areas carry the same 2025 total rate). San Bernardino County 2026-27 rates (Resolution 2026-133): the 1% general levy plus Victor Valley Joint Union High School bonds (0.0903%), Victor Valley Community College bonds (0.0208%) and Mojave Water Agency No. 2 (0.055% on land and improvements), about 1.1661% in total, less the $7,000 homeowners' exemption, applied to the value you enter; Adelanto Elementary has no bond rate on the 2026-27 list. Not included: the Mojave Water Agency's 0.1125% land-only levy, and parcel-specific charges (Mello-Roos, lighting or maintenance districts, liens). The City is excluded from County Fire's FP-5 special tax zone. The starting value is the Census median market value; under Prop 13 a home's assessed value can be far lower.
  • Electricity: SCE serves Adelanto. A community choice program may exist for the area (a directory page names Victor Valley Community Energy, unverified), so check your bill. We use SCE's TOU-D-4 rate with SCE generation from SCE's joint rate comparison with Apple Valley Choice Energy for Baseline Region 14 ($0.37830 per kWh, rates as of June 1, 2026, $249.30 average bill at 659 kWh, a year-round average), taking Adelanto, in the High Desert next to Apple Valley, to be in the same region, plus the $24.15 monthly Base Services Charge.
  • Gas: Southwest Gas Schedule GS-10, effective October 1, 2026 ($5.75 a month, $2.35304 per therm up to the baseline and $2.56948 above). The baseline is the Victorville climate zone allowance averaged over the year (about 34 therms a month); the tariff does not list the zone for each community. The page starts at 37 therms, Southwest Gas's average Southern California non-CARE use. Insurance starts at the 2022 California average.
  • Gas baseline seasons for Victorville: 0.46 (May-Oct.), 1.45 (Mar.-Apr. & Nov.), 2.11 (Dec.-Feb.) therms per day; Adelanto assumed in Region 14 / Victorville zone (modelling, not judged).
