  • Two free bulky-item pickups a yearFree

Single-family homes that receive City trash service get a bulk curbside pickup at no cost twice a year: spring cycle January to June, fall cycle July to December.

How: Find your pick-up day on the City's Community Clean-Up map; put debris at the curb by 6 AM on that day.

  • Toilet and washing machine rebatesUp to $75 per toilet

How these numbers are made
  • Garbage, water and sewer: City of Clovis rates page (minimums as of July 1, 2026). The City bills every two months, so each charge is halved to get a monthly figure: sewer $65.98 becomes $32.99 (the rates page also lists a $7.30 a month sewer bond surcharge from 2010 and a matching $7.30 a month "Bond Charge Rebate" since July 2020; the $65.98 line does not say whether it includes the surcharge, so we did not net the rebate), the $27.71 dwelling unit charge becomes $13.86, and trash is the 96-gallon ($59.48) or 48-gallon ($56.50) refuse line plus recycling ($10.36) and organics ($15.20). We assumed the 23,000- and 40,000-gallon tier breakpoints are for a two-month bill (11,500 and 20,000 gallons a month); the page does not say so. Street sweeping ($6.42 a bill) is shown as a separate fee.
  • Property tax: Fresno County 2026–27 rates (Resolution 26-327) for a home in Clovis Unified: 1% countywide, 0.155334% Clovis Unified bonds and 0.015278% State Center Community College bonds, 1.170612% in all, less the $7,000 homeowners' exemption. The county list has no City of Clovis levy. Small parts of Clovis lie in other school districts with different bond rates.
  • Flat charges: the Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District assessment for a developed single-family lot under 1.5 acres is $19.50 to $28.20 depending on benefit zone; we use the lowest, $19.50. We could not find the mosquito abatement charge or City landscape maintenance or community facilities district charges that some Clovis subdivisions pay.
  • The starting home value is the Census ACS 2024 median market value; under Prop 13 an owner who bought years ago has a lower assessed value and pays less.
  • Energy: PG&E electricity only, estimated year-round with the E-1 rate (June 1, 2026), territory R baselines and about 500 kWh a month (typical use from EIA). Gas is not included: we found no current source showing which company sells gas to Clovis homes. No City of Clovis franchise surcharge was found, so none is included. Insurance is the 2022 California average (four years old) homeowners premium (NAIC via the Insurance Information Institute).
  • On Jan 20 and Apr 20, 2026 the City held the water rate study approval and Prop 218 hearing for new water rates (flat volume rates, no tiers) that the City says take effect Jan 1, 2027; they are not included here. News coverage (abc30) reports increases of 21% in January 2027, another 21% the next year and 18% in year three; refresh this page in January 2027.
