How these numbers are made
  • Property tax uses Humboldt County tax rate area 003-001 for tax year 2025 (1.084% total); the county had not posted 2026-27 rates. TRAs 003-000 to 003-003 show the same rate; which TRA covers most Eureka homes was not confirmed.
  • Starting value is the Census ACS median market value; assessed values are usually lower.
  • Water: $49.00 base plus $3.95 per HCF; sewer $33.50 monthly plus $7.85 per HCF, FY 2026-27. Water is treated as a monthly bill and sewer is charged on all water used; the city's billing frequency and whether sewer uses winter-average water were not confirmed, and no cap or winter averaging is modelled (sewer may be overstated).
  • Electric: $0.42742 per kWh is the PG&E-default column of the PG&E/RCEA comparison for E-1 (RCEA REpower+ is $0.42031, REpower 100% Renewable $0.43742); the $24.13 monthly base charge is PG&E's $0.79343 per day x 365 / 12; the PG&E default generation service is assumed.
  • Garbage: only the 32-gallon price ($45.94 after the August 2026 increase) was found, in news reports rather than from Recology or the city; Recology's rate pages block automated access.
  • No city tax on utility bills was found for Eureka and none is modelled.
  • Gas is not modelled: no current source showing which Eureka homes use PG&E gas was found, so the total is understated for homes that heat or cook with gas.
  • No Eureka storm-water or other flat charge on tax bills was checked for, and none is modelled.
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.
