How these numbers are made
  • Individual bills are confidential in California, so we calculate yours from public rates and what you tell us.
  • Property tax: tax rate area 06000 in the Ventura County 2026-27 Tax Rate Book (Port Hueneme city, Hueneme School District), the 1% general levy plus voter-approved bond rates and the United Water Conservation District import-water rate that the book lists for land and improvements; the Oxnard-school-district areas (06001 and 06002) differ. No Port Hueneme city bond or flat benefit-assessment line was sourced, so none is included; some bills may carry county Watershed Protection District assessments.
  • Water: Ordinance 764, Exhibit A (the schedule the city's rate page links to) lists the 5/8-inch or 3/4-inch residential service charge of $26.78 and the single-family per-hcf tiers of $6.16, $6.26 and $7.17, all the final scheduled step (July 2023); the city's 2020 fact sheet lists the same tiers. The ordinance allows wholesale water cost increases to be passed through per hcf with 30 days' written notice; we found no notice and have added none, so the rate may be higher. The city lists no typical single-family use that we found, so the page starts at its default.
  • Sewer: a flat $36.00 a month per dwelling, the final step (July 2013) of the city's 2009 wastewater ordinance; the city lists no newer rate, so it is about 13 years old (the city's rate page says current wastewater and solid waste rates took effect January 1, 2013). Trash: $25.60 a month, treated as a monthly price for one 65/95-gallon trash cart with a recycle cart (the city's trash page says the rates were adopted July 1, 2014, while its rate page says January 1, 2013, so the date is uncertain; the rate is at least a decade old and may not be current).
  • Electricity: SCE base charge $24.15 plus $0.37392 per kWh for CPA Clean Power (50% clean), the default for Port Hueneme customers, at SCE's 523 kWh typical month. Not included: a 4% city tax on utility charges (Port Hueneme municipal code, Chapter 4) was not applied to any line, because no readable source could be cited for it; bills may run about 4% higher, and whether any exemption applies to a given household was not checked.
  • Removed from judged fields: gas rates (no readable source tying SoCalGas service to Port Hueneme) and the energy tax rate (city code page returned 403).
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.
