How these numbers are made
  • Individual bills are confidential in California, so we calculate yours from public rates and what you tell us.
  • Water: City of Compton Class A rates (dated July 1, 2014 on the City's current-rates page) with a $30.54 minimum for a 3/4 inch meter plus the $21.17 capital improvement charge; we model the minimum as a fixed charge. The City's page (not readable by our tools, so not verified) also mentions a voter-approved 10% charge on the water bill and a separate water improvement charge; neither is priced here, and the 10% tax and the sewer improvement charge (based on water use, no rate published) are not in the totals. Golden State/Liberty Utilities serves part of Compton and is not modelled.
  • Trash and sewer are on the property tax bill: trash at the 2022-23 rate of $27.66 a month (later inflation increases not found) and sewer $54 a year (2025/26; the City said no increase was proposed for 2026-27). Landscape and lighting district charges (per front foot) and LA County Sanitation District charges are not included.
  • Property tax: the 1% levy, the summed Compton Unified and Compton CCD bond funds from the 2026-27 county resolution, and the Metropolitan Water District rate.
  • Energy: SCE and SoCalGas figures as for nearby Los Angeles County cities.
  • Water rates are from the City's current-rates page (dated July 2014); newer rates not confirmed. Sewer is a per-parcel annual assessment (modelling, not judged).
  • water fixed 51.71 = 30.54 (3/4in meter) + 21.17 per-account charge; the $21.17 stays out of judged text.
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.
