How these numbers are made
  • Property tax uses Riverside County's adopted 2026-27 rates (Resolution 2026-153): the 1% levy plus Palo Verde Unified (0.04501%) and Palo Verde Community College (0.01761%) bond rates, total 1.06262%. The City of Blythe has no ad valorem rate. Mello-Roos (e.g. CFD 2004-1) and other direct charges were not found in county sources and are not included.
  • Starting value is the Census median market value; Prop 13 assessed values are often lower.
  • Water is $22.08 meter charge + $9.00 State Revolving Fund repayment = $31.08 a month plus $3.72 per 1,000 gallons; sewer is the $17.05 Sewer charge + $36.57 Waste Water charge per residential unit.
  • Trash is sanitation $34.85 + landfill $7.19 + $0.80 alley cleanup; the city's page shows July 1, 2025 rates (annual CPI adjustment each July 1), and no July 2026 schedule was published.
  • Electricity is SCE Schedule D tiers; Tier 1 allowance is SCE's region 15 baseline weighted over 4 summer and 8 winter months (about 653 kWh a month); gas and insurance are SoCalGas and California statewide averages.
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.

Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
