How these numbers are made
  • Property tax uses DuPage County 2025 final rates for tax code 4024 (Winfield Township, Winfield Park District, Winfield Fire Protection District, Grade School District 34, High School District 94; total 7.0924 per $100 of equalized assessed value). The DuPage Water Commission carries no rate in this code.
  • The starting value is one third of the Census median market value ($386,300 / 3), because Illinois taxes equalized assessed value (about one third of market value). The $8,000 general homestead exemption comes off that value.
  • Water ($12.25) and sewer ($9.66) are the Village's 2026 rates per 1,000 gallons, converted to CCF (0.748 thousand gallons per CCF). The Village charges a minimum bill of $51.49 for 0 to 2,350 gallons, which is exactly 2,350 gallons at the combined $21.91 rate, so no separate fixed charge is modelled. No Village typical-use figure was found, so the page starts at its default use. Water and sewer are billed monthly.
  • Trash is SBC Waste Solutions' 2026 flat rate of $22.00 a month for a 35, 65 or 95 gallon cart (monthly fee per the Village's Refuse-Collection page; the sticker program ends in 2027 and flat-rate sign-up closed October 15, 2026).
  • Electricity is ComEd single-family without electric space heat: $15.26 + $3.81 + $1.17 a month, per-kWh delivery, transmission, rider and supply charges (supply $0.08413 and transmission $0.0169, Oct 2026-May 2027, applied to the whole year) plus the Village municipal tax addition of 0.628 cents per kWh (first 2,000 kWh) from the ComEd tariff.
  • Gas is Nicor Rate 1: $21.30 a month plus 24.44 cents distribution and the October 2026 gas cost of 33 cents per therm, with the Nicor Rider 8 municipal tax charge for Winfield of 5.15 percent added to both. Nicor riders are not included. Homeowners insurance is not included: no Winfield or DuPage figure was found.
  • Electric: October 2026-May 2027 supply price applied to all twelve months (winter-price estimate).
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.

How Winfield compares

A typical Winfield house against the 132 Illinois cities we cover, using the same default numbers as the total above.

Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
