How these numbers are made
- Property tax uses DuPage County 2025 final rates for tax code 6026 (York Township, Villa Park Grade School District 45, High School District 88; total 7.2571 per $100 of equalized assessed value).
- The starting value is one third of the Data USA median market value ($329,000 / 3), because Illinois taxes equalized assessed value (about one third of market value). The $8,000 general homestead exemption comes off that value.
- Water is the Village rate of $10.54 per 1,000 gallons converted to CCF (0.748 thousand gallons per CCF). The $5.23 meter fee and the $2.00 administrative fee are put under water. Sewer adds the Village's $3.85 and Salt Creek Sanitary District's $8.00 per 1,000 gallons; the sewer fixed charge is the $1.80 wastewater charge fee plus Salt Creek's $16.00 quarterly flat fee divided by 3. Stormwater ($6.00) and combined sewer separation ($4.83) are monthly utility fees. The Village publishes no typical water use, so the page default applies.
- Trash is the Village's stated $25.63 monthly rate for the standard cart pair (95-gallon garbage, 65-gallon recycling).
- Electricity is ComEd single-family without electric space heat from the Lombard model's ComEd and Price to Compare inputs (supply 8.413 cents, transmission 1.69 cents per kWh, October 2026 to May 2027, applied to the whole year). The Village's electric aggregation contract (MC Squared) sets supply equal to the ComEd rate, so ComEd's price applies. Added: the Village electricity tax from ComEd Rider TAX (0.591 cents per kWh, first 2,000 kWh) and ComEd's Villa Park franchise cost percentage of 2.967% (June 2026 to May 2027), the latter applied to the fixed and per-kWh charges excluding the tax. Gas is Nicor Rate 1 with the October 2026 gas cost of 33 cents per therm, plus the Village's 5.15% gas utility tax from Nicor Rider 8 applied to the fixed and per-therm charges. Homeowners insurance is not included (no official premium survey found).

How Villa Park compares
A typical Villa Park house against the 132 Illinois cities we cover, using the same default numbers as the total above.
| Per year | Villa Park | Median | Where it falls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Property tax rate | 7.26% | 8.23% | lower than 100 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
| Water | $938 | $872 | higher than 74 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
| Sewer and utility-bill fees | $1,173 | $535 | higher than 121 of the other 123 Illinois cities we cover |
| Trash | $308 | $283 | higher than 80 of the other 127 Illinois cities we cover |
| Electricity and gas | $1,915 | $2,163 | lower than 99 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
| Total | $11,712 | $11,701 | higher than 66 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
