How these numbers are made
- Property tax uses Cook County's 2025 agency rates for tax code 39032 (Village of Chicago Ridge, School District 127 1/2, Community High School District 218, Chicago Ridge Park District; total 11.279102 per $100 of equalized assessed value). Worth Township, road and bridge, elections, Forest Preserve and mosquito abatement are grouped as other districts. Other Chicago Ridge codes (District 122 or 127, High School 229) and TIF or special service area codes differ.
- The starting value is the Assessor's 2023 median market value for Worth Township single-family homes ($233K) times 10% times the 2025 Cook County equalization factor 3.0300; the $10,000 Homeowner Exemption comes off it. Worth's 2026 reassessment ($279k) applies to 2027 bills. This is a township median, not a Chicago Ridge figure.
- Water $9.40, sewer $1.15 per 1,000 gallons and refuse $16.00 are the Village's current monthly single-family rates; the Village bills water, sewer and refuse monthly. The 4,000-gallon minimum usage is below the calculator's starting use, so it does not change the total.
- Electricity: ComEd delivery charges plus the October 2026 price to compare; the Village states ComEd is its energy supplier. Gas: Nicor Rate 1 plus October 2026 supply cost. Nicor's municipal utility tax sheet (October 2024) lists no Chicago Ridge charge, and no Village electric tax was found, so none is added. Nicor state surcharges are not on the Rate 1 sheet.
- Not included: homeowners insurance and special service area taxes that apply only in some tax codes (Chicago Ridge has a code with Special Service Area #1).

How Chicago Ridge compares
A typical Chicago Ridge house against the 132 Illinois cities we cover, using the same default numbers as the total above.
| Per year | Chicago Ridge | Median | Where it falls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Property tax rate | 11.28% | 8.23% | higher than 123 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
| Water | $759 | $872 | lower than 82 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
| Sewer and utility-bill fees | $93 | $535 | lower than 117 of the other 123 Illinois cities we cover |
| Trash | $192 | $283 | lower than 109 of the other 127 Illinois cities we cover |
| Electricity and gas | $2,163 | $2,163 | higher than 64 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
| Total | $10,042 | $11,701 | lower than 97 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
