How these numbers are made
- Property tax uses Cook County's 2025 agency rates for tax code 26013 (Cook County, Village of Norridge, School District 80, Community High School District 234, Triton College, Norridge Park District, Eisenhower Public Library District, Norwood Park Fire Protection District, MWRD; total 7.049582 per $100 of equalized assessed value). Norwood Park Township, road and bridge, consolidated elections and the Forest Preserve are grouped as other districts. Other Norridge tax codes use School District 79 or 86 or Maine Township High School 207.
- The starting value is the Census median value of owner-occupied homes ($374,900, 2020-2024) times 10% times the 2025 Cook County equalization factor 3.0300; the $10,000 Homeowner Exemption comes off it. It is a market median converted to assessed value, not an assessor figure, and the Census median also covers condos and multi-unit buildings.
- Water uses the Village's June 1, 2026 sheet, billed every two months: the $97.39 minimum (up to 6,000 gallons) plus the $55.00 infrastructure fee, halved to a monthly fixed charge of $76.195 that covers the first 3,000 gallons a month (4.01 ccf); use above that is $0.00707 a gallon ($5.29 per ccf). The Village rate page lists no separate sewer charge and publishes no typical use. Garbage has no fee on the water rate page; the Village budget lists Garbage as a General Fund department.
- Electricity: ComEd delivery charges plus the October 2026 price to compare plus the state first-2,000-kWh excise tax addition; ComEd's Rider TAX municipal additions list has no entry for Norridge. Gas: Nicor Rate 1 plus October 2026 supply cost; Nicor's Rider 8 municipal tax list has no entry for Norridge, and its smaller riders are not added.
- Not included: homeowners insurance (no official Illinois premium survey for Norridge was found) and Norwood Park street lighting or other special service areas that apply only to some tax codes.

How Norridge compares
A typical Norridge house against the 132 Illinois cities we cover, using the same default numbers as the total above.
| Per year | Norridge | Median | Where it falls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Property tax rate | 7.05% | 8.23% | lower than 108 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
| Water | $1,231 | $872 | higher than 108 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
| Electricity and gas | $2,186 | $2,163 | higher than 70 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
| Total | $10,720 | $11,701 | lower than 82 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
