How these numbers are made
- Property tax uses Kane County 2025 rates (payable 2026) for tax code SG102: Kane County, forest preserve, Sugar Grove Township and its road district, Village of Sugar Grove, Kaneland CUSD 302, Waubonsee College, Sugar Grove Park, Library and Fire districts, Water Authority and Community Building, about 8.02 per $100 of EAV. It is the rate shared by the most Sugar Grove tax codes in the booklet; the number of homes per code was not published.
- The starting value is one third of the Data USA median property value ($401,900 / 3) because Illinois taxes equalized assessed value; the $8,000 Kane County general homestead exemption comes off it.
- Water is the Village resident rate effective with the June 1, 2026 utility bill: $16.48 monthly customer charge plus $5.01 per 1,000 gallons. The Village sewer customer charge ($14.83 a month) is listed as a utility fee; sewer usage is the Village's $5.04 per 1,000 gallons plus Fox Metro's $8.26 per 1,000 gallons ($13.30 together). Fox Metro bills about six times a year. The road maintenance charge ($6.48 a month) is the Village's vehicle use fee, which the April 21, 2026 board report left unchanged.
- Garbage is the Village refuse rate of $22.37 per unit per month from the May 1, 2026 billing, billed on the Village utility bill.
- Electric adds ComEd delivery, the October 2026 Price to Compare and the Rider Tax municipal addition for Sugar Grove (0.570 cents per kWh). Gas is Nicor Rate 1 with the 5.15% Sugar Grove gas utility tax applied. Insurance is not included: no official Illinois or Kane County premium survey was found.
