How these numbers are made
- Property tax uses Cook County's 2025 agency rates for tax code 24017 (Village of Morton Grove, Morton Grove School District 70, Niles Township High School District 219, Morton Grove Park District; total 9.014708 per $100 of equalized assessed value), the code with the most Morton Grove parcels. Village corporate and library rates are added; elections, Forest Preserve, Niles Township and mosquito abatement are grouped as other districts.
- The starting value is the Assessor's 2025 median market value estimate for Niles Township single-family homes ($389,000) times 10% times the 2025 Cook County equalization factor 3.0300; the $10,000 Homeowner Exemption comes off it.
- Water: $11.57 per 1,000 gallons, with no separate base charge (the $34.71 bi-monthly minimum is 3,000 gallons at that rate). Sewer: $1.18 per 1,000 gallons billed. The page starts at its default 9 CCF a month because no typical use was found. The Village page is undated; it is the current rate shown there.
- Garbage: the Village fee schedule's $23.10 bi-monthly single-family refuse and recycling rate for 2026 ($11.55 a month). The 2027 rate is $23.64. The schedule also lists a $1.61 'billing fee' under services that need contact with Groot; it is not added.
- Electricity: ComEd delivery charges plus the October 2026 price to compare, plus the Morton Grove municipal tax addition (0.628 cents per kWh for the first 2,000 kWh) and the state tax addition (0.330 cents). Gas: Nicor Rate 1 plus the October 2026 supply cost plus Morton Grove's 5.00 cent per therm gas use tax, which Nicor's Rider 8 sheet marks as applying to Rider 6 (gas supply) therms. Nicor riders and monthly ComEd price changes are not included. Not included: homeowners insurance (no official premium survey for Morton Grove found) and the Village vehicle sticker.

Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
