How these numbers are made
- Property tax uses Cook County's 2025 final rates for tax code 28011 (Village of Orland Park, Orland Township, School District 135, High School District 230, Orland Fire Protection District; total 8.734269 per $100 of equalized assessed value), the code shared by the most Orland Park tax codes (the County's rate file counts codes, not homes). Homes in District 140 or 146 (Tinley Park Park District in some) pay 9.59 to 10.84. Special service areas apply only to some neighborhoods.
- The starting value is the Assessor's 2023 median market value of Orland Township single-family homes ($357,000) at 10% assessed value times the 2025 equalization factor of 3.0300; the $10,000 Homeowner Exemption comes off that value. Orland Township is reassessed in 2026, so bills in 2027 will use new values.
- Water, sewer and garbage use the Village's current bimonthly table (water service charge $16.55, usage tiers per 1,000 gallons, sewer $1.34 per 1,000 gallons capped at $43.94 a bill, garbage $53.84), divided by two for the monthly figures; typical use is the Village's 10,000 gallons a month. The storm charge ($3.40 per 1,000 gallons, listed under the table's 'per 1,000 gallons' heading) is shown separately as $34 a month at typical use and is not subject to the sewer cap. Rates are the current fiscal year schedule; the Village raises them on a yearly schedule (the water service charge rises from $16.55 to $17.95 in fiscal 2027).
- Electricity is ComEd's delivery charges plus the October 2026 to May 2027 price to compare, plus the Village's electricity tax of 0.61 cents per kWh on the first 2,000 kWh. The Village also runs an electricity aggregation program with its own supply price, which is not modeled. Gas is Nicor Gas Rate 1: $21.30 a month plus 24.44 cents distribution and the October 2026 supply cost of 33 cents per therm; the Village gas use tax of 5 cents per therm is added; Nicor's per-therm riders for environmental cost recovery (Rider 12), energy efficiency (Rider 30) and infrastructure (Rider 32) are set in annual filings whose current Rate 1 amounts were not found published, so they are not included.
- Not included: homeowners insurance (no official premium survey was found for Orland Park), and special service areas.
- typicalValue 108171 = $357K x 10% assessed level x 2025 Cook equalization factor 3.0300 (modelled).

| Total | $13,406 | $11,701 | higher than 95 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
