How these numbers are made
- Property tax uses DuPage County 2025 final rates for tax code 2061 (the code the booklet lists as Roselle: Bloomingdale Township, Roselle Park and Library Districts, Grade School District 12, High School District 108; total 7.1263 per $100 of equalized assessed value). Roselle's fire service is provided by the Village in this code, so there is no separate fire district line. Cook County parcels in Roselle use other rates.
- The starting value is one third of the Census median market value ($344,700 / 3), because Illinois taxes equalized assessed value (about one third of market value). The $8,000 general homestead exemption comes off that value.
- Water uses the 2026 rate of $10.75 plus the Capital Improvement Surcharge of $9.25, both per 1,000 gallons, converted to CCF (0.748 thousand gallons); sewer is the DuPage rate of $7.63 per 1,000 gallons. The Village publishes no monthly base fee or typical use.
- Trash is the 2026 single-family monthly rate; the Village's guide lists a 65-gallon cart as the default.
- Electricity is ComEd single-family without electric space heat: $15.26 + $3.81 + $1.17 a month, plus per-kWh delivery, transmission, rider and supply charges (supply $0.08413 and transmission $0.0169 per kWh, the Oct 2026-May 2027 Price to Compare, applied to the whole year). The Village municipal electricity tax is included: 0.583 cents per kWh (block A, first 2,000 kWh a month) from ComEd's Rider TAX sheet 265, filed with the ICC for March 1, 2023 under Ordinance 99-2692 (Code Chapter 20, Article IV, Sec. 20-38); the 609 kWh typical use falls entirely in block A. ComEd's summer Price to Compare is not published on an official page we could quote, so the non-summer rate stands for all twelve months (summer is somewhat higher, so the annual electric figure is slightly low).
- Gas is Nicor Rate 1: $21.30 a month plus 24.44 cents distribution, the October 2026 gas cost of 33 cents per therm (Nicor's published figure for that one month, applied to all twelve months; Nicor's cost of gas moves month to month and its full 12-month history is not on a page we could read), plus the Village Municipal Gas Use Tax of 4 cents per therm adopted in August 2024. Homeowners insurance is not included (no official premium survey found).
- Electric rate also includes the Village municipal electricity tax (0.583 cents per kWh on the first 2,000 kWh a month); not independently quoted.

| Per year | Roselle | Median | Where it falls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Property tax rate | 7.13% | 8.23% | lower than 104 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
| Water | $1,616 | $872 | higher than 127 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
| Sewer and utility-bill fees | $616 | $535 | higher than 75 of the other 123 Illinois cities we cover |

| Total | $11,979 | $11,701 | higher than 72 of the other 131 Illinois cities we cover |
Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
