How these numbers are made
  • Property tax uses the Waukesha County 2025 table for V. Sussex in the Hamilton/Lisbon district: village 4.68, county 1.34, technical college 0.26 and school 7.05 less the 1.32 state credit, per $1,000 of assessed value (net 12.01).
  • Starting value is the Census median market value; assessed values run near 94.73% of equalized value in the county table, so the real bill may differ.
  • Water $13.39 a month plus $4.69 per 1,000 gallons; sewer $7.49 a month plus $6.13 per 1,000 gallons; stormwater $12.16 and public fire protection $11.79 a month, from the village's 2025 rate table.
  • Garbage and recycling is the $190.28 yearly special charge on the tax bill, shown here as a monthly figure and not repeated in tax fixed charges.
  • Electric uses We Energies Rg1 and gas the Wisconsin Gas Rg-1 price sheet effective November 1, 2026. The village has not published a typical water use, so the page default is used.
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.

Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
