How these numbers are made
- Property tax uses the 2025 levy assessed-value rates in the City's 2026 budget: City $7.33899, school $6.27170 less the state school credit $1.00116, county $2.51067 and Fox Valley Technical College $0.65356 per $1,000, on the Census median home value. TIF increments are excluded from these rates. These are the 2025-levy rates as listed in the proposed 2026 budget. The state lottery and gaming credit of $186.03 (Wisconsin DOR 2025 lottery credit report, City of Kaukauna / School District of Kaukauna) comes off the primary-residence bill.
- Water is the 5/8-inch monthly service charge $12.98 plus the public fire protection charge $16.02, with volume tiers per 100 cubic feet (first 1,400 cubic feet, next 12,000, then over 13,400).
- Sewer is $8.75 per 100 cubic feet of metered water plus a $3.00 monthly customer charge; storm water is $11.00 a month for a single home (1 ERU). Trash is the $5 monthly fee per refuse cart billed with the utility bill.
- Electricity is Kaukauna Utilities RG-1: $13.00 customer charge plus the $1.12 Commitment to Community charge (3% of the bill, capped at $1.12 for residential), and $0.1007 per kWh. The power cost adjustment varies and is not included. Typical use is the 2024 average for City of Kaukauna residential customers from EIA.
- Gas is the Wisconsin Public Service residential firm (WPSC) rate from its gas tariff summary (effective November 2026): $0.5589 a day (about $17 a month) plus $0.4433 per therm. Insurance is not included.

Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
