How these numbers are made
- Property tax uses the City's published 2025 rates per $1,000 of assessed value (county 3.0558, city 8.1090, Madison College 0.6367, school 7.4345 less the 1.3012 school levy credit = 17.93 mills net) applied to an assessed-equivalent value of $215,410 (Census median home value $229,100 x 0.9402, the assessed-to-market ratio on the county tax bill). The lottery and first dollar credits are the dollar amounts on the City's 2025 example bill.
- Garbage and recycling is the annual per-home charge on the 2025 tax bill ($171.68) divided by 12. Republic Services was approved on 2026-10-12 to take over residential collection, so the 2027 amount may differ.
- Water uses the Mg-1 monthly charge for a 5/8 or 3/4 inch meter and volume rates per 100 cubic feet (ccf). Sewer is the City's published monthly charge for a 5/8 or 3/4 inch meter ($13.00) with no per-volume rate listed; storm sewer is $4.30 per month per single-family home.
- Electric is the Rg-1 customer charge and base energy rate. The monthly power cost adjustment (PCAC) varies and its current value is not published on the tariff, so it is not included. Typical use is Reedsburg Utility's 2024 residential kWh divided by customers divided by 12.
- Gas is Alliant Gg-1: daily customer charge times 365 / 12, plus distribution and base supply rates; the supply rate also has a monthly market adjustment.
