How these numbers are made
  • Property tax uses the city's 2025-26 mill rate of $7.88 plus the other jurisdictions (school district, county, technical college) as the $17.60 combined mill rate minus $7.88, on the city's $211,500 median home value. The Wisconsin lottery and gaming credit is shown as a bill credit at the maximum $186.70 for the Beaver Dam school district (owner-occupied primary residences only); the school levy credit is not modeled.
  • Water is the PSC-approved Mg-1 rate: quarterly $21.15 meter charge plus $24.75 public hydrant (fire protection) charge for a 5/8 inch meter divided by 3; usage per 100 cubic feet (1 ccf), with quarterly tier limits of 6,000 and 120,000 cubic feet divided by 3.
  • Sewer is $31.26 a quarter divided by 3 plus $2.99 per 100 cubic feet of water used. Stormwater is $23.17 a quarter per equivalent residential unit divided by 3; a typical house is modeled as one unit.
  • Garbage and recycling is the 2026 solid waste utility charge of $51.98 a quarter divided by 3.
  • Electric and gas use Alliant's Wisconsin Power and Light Rg-1 and Gg-1 rates effective 1/1/2026. The gas per-therm rate is the $0.3666 distribution rate plus the average of the 12 monthly gas costs (supply base plus market adjustment) from Alliant's PGAC history, Nov 2025-Oct 2026, so it is a 12-month average, not the current month. Typical use is the Wisconsin EIA average and Alliant's 751 therms a year.
  • Electric and gas use Alliant's Wisconsin Power and Light Rg-1 and Gg-1 rates effective 1/1/2026. The gas per-therm rate is Alliant's current published Gg-1 effective rate of $0.4907 (distribution plus supply base plus the monthly gas supply market adjustment, which was negative in October 2026). That adjustment changes monthly and is higher in winter: Alliant's PGAC history spreadsheet averages $0.8737 per therm over Nov 2025-Oct 2026 (binary .xls, not machine-quotable), so the current rate understates a full-year average. Typical use is the Wisconsin EIA average and Alliant's 751 therms a year.
