How these numbers are made
- Property tax uses the 2025 combined net mill rate for the City of Berlin in the Berlin Area School District (Green Lake County): 0.015894531, after state credits. Waushara County parcels (a smaller part of the city) pay a different rate.
- The starting value is the average assessed value of residential parcels ($331,980,400 over 2,000 parcels, vacant lots included, so it runs slightly low) on the Wisconsin DOR 2025 Statement of Assessment for the City of Berlin, Green Lake County portion.
- Water is the $12.30 monthly service charge plus the $10.55 public fire protection charge (5/8 in. meter) and the tiered volume charge per 100 cubic feet (rates effective March 29, 2024); sewer is $8.49 plus $5.07 per 100 cubic feet of water used (effective July 1, 2023).
- Garbage collection has no charge; the recycling special charge is $74.40 a year, shown as $6.20 a month, and is on the property tax bill.
- Electric is Alliant's Rg-1 default flat rate: $0.5260 a day and $0.17011 per kWh with a $0 fuel adjustment, at the EIA Wisconsin residential average of 645 kWh a month. Gas is Gg-1: $0.4603 a day plus $0.3666 distribution and $0.6137 supply base per therm, excluding the monthly market adjustment; 751 therms a year.
