How these numbers are made
- Property tax uses the county's 2025 net rates per $1,000 of assessed value for the City of Pewaukee in the Pewaukee school district (city 2.59, county 1.32, technical college 0.26, school 6.53 less the 1.33 state credit). The value is the average of parcels on the city garbage list in the 2026 assessment roll; the median improved residential parcel in that roll is about $459,700, so a median home pays less.
- Water uses the Public Service Commission Step I tariff the city lists (effective 3/1/2024): $30.00 quarterly for a 5/8-inch meter divided by 3, plus $4.75 per 1,000 gallons. Step II rates were authorised in the same docket but the city's rate page shows only these rates. Public fire protection is $0.19138 per $1,000 of assessed value a year; shown as a monthly utility fee at the average value.
- Sewer is $110.30 operating plus $30.70 administrative per quarter, divided by 3; it is not tied to water use.
- Garbage is the 2026 fee schedule's $222.00 per unit a year, divided by 12; it is collected on the tax bill.
- Electric and gas use We Energies Rg1 and Rg-1 rates as on the Brookfield page, with the same use assumptions.

Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
