How these numbers are made
  • Electric: BMU Residential 1-71 rate sheet (customer charge $19.00 per month, 0.08503 per kWh); the sheet is a scanned image dated 2020, and BMU's 2025 electric ordinance 6377 reclassified other rate classes. Typical use is the EIA Missouri residential average.
  • Water and sewer: rates in the May 2025 council packet for ordinances 6374 and 6375 as effective June 1, 2026; ¾-inch meter customer charges ($10.95 water, $6.05 sewer), $5.15 per thousand gallons water and $7.03 per thousand gallons sewer. Water use is the page default.
  • Trash: Sonny's Solid Waste contract exhibit, July 31, 2026 to July 30, 2027 total $31.88 (contractor $30.38 plus city service fee $1.50); fuel and other surcharges may apply.
  • Property tax: Scott County Collector 2026 rate sheet row for the Sikeston R-6 school district area (total 4.8325 plus city 0.8082 per $100 assessed value). The county line is the sum of road, Johnson grass, health, sheltered workshop and ambulance levies. The sheet notes a $3.00 vehicle fee, which is not a house charge. Parts of Sikeston lie in New Madrid County and are not modelled.
  • Natural gas and home insurance are not modelled.
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.
