How these numbers are made
  • Property tax: Missouri State Auditor 2025 levy table for Lafayette County (2026 levies not yet published), rates per $100 of assessed value times 19% of the Census median market value; the list is the Odessa R-VII school district, Odessa Fire & Rescue Protection District, the city and county levies. Odessa Special Road District (0.3037) and county common road districts are not included. Part of Odessa may fall in other school districts and are not modelled.
  • Water and sewer: the city's utility rates page effective April 1, 2026, per 100 gallons shown per thousand gallons ($5.50 water, $6.55 sewer); the $8.98 sewer bond (CIRA) charge is added monthly. No typical household use is published; the page default is used.
  • Trash: the city bills $21.67 per month for one cart.
  • Electric: city-owned utility, block rates in the 7/27/2026 fee schedule. The city's rate chart (26-27 Electric Rates) shows the same base charge and blocks. A monthly Purchased Power Adjustment (PPA), which replaced the ECA, is added on top of these rates, can be a charge or a credit, and is not published as a figure, so it is not included. Usage 1,001 kWh is the EIA Missouri residential average. Evergy does not serve city customers.
  • Gas (estimate): Spire West $22 customer charge; delivery charge averaged winter/summer plus the $0.67976 PGA, converted from ccf to therms. Gas typical use is not modelled.
  • Gas per-therm figure is our estimate: winter/summer delivery charges averaged plus the PGA, converted from ccf to therms at 1.037.
