How these numbers are made
- Property tax: St. Louis County 2025 Rate Book residential rates per $100 for tax code 111AK (Ferguson-Florissant school district, city of Ferguson; total 6.7550, the code shared by most Ferguson addresses); applied to 19% of the Census median home value. The $50 yearly sewer lateral fee is added.
- Water: Missouri American Water St. Louis County rates ($11.00 monthly charge and $10.3749 per 1,000 gallons) each raised by Ferguson's 8% utility tax; typical use is the company's 6,100 gallons a month.
- Sewer: MSD base charge $34.85 plus $7.15 per CCF of winter-quarter water use; a residential stormwater levy is in the property tax rate above. The MSD rate is $7.15 per CCF; it is stored as $5.348 per 1,000 gallons (7.15 / 1.33689) because the page's water unit is kgal.
- Electricity and gas: Ameren Missouri 1(M) and Spire East rates as in nearby St. Louis County cities; Ferguson's 8% utility business license tax is applied to both. Energy-efficiency and renewable-standard riders are not included.
- Trash: Republic Services' price in the city contract schedule for 4/1/2025-3/31/2026 ($25.44 a month for the 95 gallon cart, billed quarterly); the city has not published a schedule for 2026-27, so the new price may differ.

Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
