How these numbers are made
  • Florida tax bills are public, but we calculate yours from public rates and the value you enter.
  • Property tax: 19.4244 mills in total for the 2026 tax year in Hillsborough County tax district TT: City of Temple Terrace 6.4550 (Ordinance 1603, adopted September 17, 2026); Hillsborough County 5.3608 general revenue and 0.0604 environmentally sensitive lands (the county's September 24, 2026 final-hearing resolution); Hillsborough County Public Schools 6.3340 (3.0860 required local effort, 0.7480 discretionary, 1.5000 capital, 1.0000 voted; adopted September 15, 2026); Southwest Florida Water Management District 0.1831; Children's Board 0.4589 (adopted September 14, 2026). For Port Tampa Bay (0.0722) and HART transit (0.5000) we use the proposed 2026 rates printed on the 2026 TRIM notice for a city-owned Temple Terrace parcel; we did not find their final adoption documents. Temple Terrace parcels do not pay the county's unincorporated-area or library levies. The Hillsborough Property Appraiser's 2026 final millage table is not published yet.
  • Homestead takes $25,000 off all taxes and up to $26,411 more off non-school taxes (we apply the full $26,411). The starting value is the Census ACS 2020-2024 median market value of owner-occupied homes in Temple Terrace ($334,800); the Property Appraiser publishes no city median assessed value, and Save Our Homes keeps most long-held homesteads' assessed values below market, so enter your assessed value for a closer figure. We found no flat yearly charges on a typical Temple Terrace tax bill: trash is on the city utility bill, and the city has no stormwater fee (its FY 2026 budget lists creating a stormwater assessment as a possible future strategy). A small district where the city provides extra services adds a charge for some parcels; it is not included.
  • Water and sewer: City of Temple Terrace inside-city residential rates effective October 1, 2026 (a 15% increase, Resolution 100-26). Water: $4.43 billing charge plus $5.30 for a 5/8" or 3/4" meter, and $2.99 per 1,000 gallons up to 8,000 gallons and $4.99 above; we add the 10% utility tax to all water charges and the $0.10 per 1,000 gallons water utility tax, giving $10.70 a month plus $3.39 and $5.59 per 1,000 gallons. The wastewater table also lists a $0.10 per 1,000 gallons water utility tax; we count it once. Wastewater: $5.30 a month plus $14.48 per 1,000 gallons, no cap. The page starts at 5,000 gallons a month (6.68 CCF), the use in the city's average residential bill example; a separate irrigation meter is not included. Garbage: $37.12 a month, the 2025-2026 residential rate (no sanitation increase was budgeted for FY 27).
  • Electricity: Tampa Electric Rate Schedule RS (tariff sheets in force October 2026), $0.45 a day ($13.69 a month) plus a year-round per-kWh rate of 13.902¢ up to 1,000 kWh and 15.902¢ above: energy and demand 8.948¢/9.948¢, fuel 3.210¢/4.210¢, capacity 0.264¢, environmental 0.087¢, energy conservation 0.270¢, storm protection plan 0.717¢ and clean energy transition 0.406¢. RS has no seasonal rates, and the 2025 storm surcharge ended with August 2026. We add Temple Terrace's 10% public service tax to the whole electric bill; Florida law keeps most of the fuel charge out of that tax, so this slightly overstates it. TECO's franchise fee (its Temple Terrace franchise runs to 2047) and the 2.5641% state gross receipts tax are not included. Typical use, 1,104 kWh a month, is EIA's 2024 Florida residential average.
  • Gas is not modeled: 94 of 5,860 owner-occupied Temple Terrace homes heat with utility gas (Census). Insurance: Florida OIR's Hillsborough County average homeowners premium with wind coverage ($3,525, data as of March 31, 2026); flood insurance is a separate policy and is not included.
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.
