  • Disabled veterans: $5,000 or full exemption$5,000 off, or a full exemption

A certificate of disability from the U.S. Government or the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is the document the Property Appraiser lists for the $5,000 veteran disability exemption, and a certificate is also listed for the full exemption for service-connected total and permanent disability.

How these numbers are made
  • Florida tax bills are public, but we calculate yours from public rates and the value you enter.
  • Property tax: 22.4571 mills in total for Broward County millage code 1912 (Lauderhill), 2026 final rates: Broward County 5.6628; School Board 6.2940 (split into 3.0460 required local effort and 3.2480 discretionary and capital from the Property Appraiser's proposed-millage table) plus 0.1587 school debt; Children's Services Council 0.4500; North Broward Hospital District 1.2391; Florida Inland Navigation District 0.0270; South Florida Water Management District 0.2301; City of Lauderhill 7.3998 operating plus 0.9956 debt.
  • The Property Appraiser's recap of extra tax-bill charges lists a 'Lauderhill solid waste assmnt' of $435.12 on about 2,640 parcels and a 'Lauderhill storm' charge of $308.28 on about 2,700 parcels, far fewer than the city's 10,073 single-family homes; we could not find a city source saying which homes carry them, so they are not in the totals. Garbage and stormwater are priced from the city's utility-account rates instead; a home that pays them on its tax bill pays them there rather than on the utility account.
  • Homestead takes $25,000 off all taxes and up to $26,411 more off non-school taxes (we apply the full amount, which every home assessed at $76,411 or more gets). The starting value is the Property Appraiser's July 2026 median assessed value of Lauderhill single-family homes ($231,960); assessed values sit below market ($413,060 median) because of Save Our Homes.
  • Water and sewer: the City of Lauderhill rate sheet effective 10/1/2025: water $15.29 a month plus $2.32 per 1,000 gallons to 4,000, $3.53 to 8,000, $6.64 to 12,000 and $8.35 above; sewer $24.51 plus $4.92 per 1,000 gallons; stormwater $24.26. Garbage ($17.01) is the city's $81.07 monthly availability, storm water and garbage rate minus the water availability, sewer availability and stormwater charges on the same sheet; the city page does not list the garbage price on its own, so the figure is derived and may be off (the Property Appraiser's separate $435.12 'solid waste assmnt' covers only about 2,640 parcels and could not be reconciled with it; confirm with Utility Billing, (954) 739-0100). We could not find any recycling charge, a city utility tax on water, or a rate sheet effective 10/1/2026 (the figures are the city's 10/1/2025 rates, not 2026 rates); the rate sheet is read from an Internet Archive copy because the city site blocks automated reads.
  • Electricity: FPL rate RS-1 effective October 2026, $10.52 a month plus 12.258¢ per kWh up to 1,000 kWh and 14.258¢ above (all per-kWh charges combined); typical use (1,104 kWh a month) is EIA's 2024 Florida statewide residential average, not a Lauderhill figure. Not included in the electricity total: FPL franchise fees and any city utility (public service) tax on electricity, which could add several percent to a bill (no source found). Gas customers (TECO Peoples Gas, where available) are not modelled. Insurance is the Florida OIR average Broward County premium including wind.
  • Electric figures exclude any franchise fee or city utility tax (not modelled).
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.
