How these numbers are made
- Florida tax bills are public, but we calculate yours from public rates and the value you enter.
- Property tax: 18.3714 mills in total for Deltona (Volusia County millage code 016), 2026 tax year, from the Property Appraiser's itemized 2026 millage table: Volusia County operating 5.0698 and voter-approved 0.4000, Volusia County Schools 5.2430, St. Johns River Water Management District 0.1793, Florida Inland Navigation District 0.0270, West Volusia Hospital Authority 0.9575 and City of Deltona 6.4948 (adopted September 21, 2026 at the rolled-back rate). Deltona is not in the county's fire or municipal service districts; the City's proposed fire assessment was voted down on July 20, 2026.
- Homestead takes $25,000 off all taxes and up to $26,411 more off non-school taxes (we apply the full $26,411, which every home assessed at $76,411 or more gets). The typical value is the Census median market value of owner-occupied units; the Save Our Homes cap keeps many homesteads' assessed value lower.
- Flat charges on the tax bill for FY 2026-27 (set July 20 and reaffirmed September 9, 2026): solid waste $287.76 a year per home (shown as garbage, $23.98 a month) and stormwater $210.00 a year per residential unit. Streetlighting district assessments apply only in those neighborhoods and are not included; the Lake McGarity assessment is $0 this year.
- Water: Deltona Water inside-city residential rates from October 1, 2026, 5/8 x 3/4 inch meter: $20.42 a month plus $2.82, $5.69, $9.98 and $20.01 per 1,000 gallons for 0-5,000, 5,001-10,000, 10,001-20,000 and over 20,000 gallons. The page starts at 5,000 gallons (about 6.68 CCF), the use the City's rate study prices as the average single-family bill. Sewer starts at zero because 80% of Deltona Water customers have water-only service (septic); homes on City sewer should add about $65.04 a month plus $19.42 per 1,000 gallons from 2,001 to 5,000 gallons and $25.25 above 5,000 gallons (about $123 a month at 5,000 gallons), which the page does not model. Homes served by Volusia County Utilities pay the County's rates instead.
- Electricity: Duke Energy Florida RS-1 effective October 1, 2026, $14.43 a month plus per-kWh charges; the non-fuel energy charge is a weighted average of 3 winter months (December through February) and 9 months March through November, plus the BA-1 fuel charge (4.127 cents up to 1,000 kWh, 5.197 cents above) and cost recovery factors, plus Deltona's 10% public service tax on electricity applied to the whole bill (Florida law exempts the fuel charge, so this slightly overstates it). Duke's 6% franchise fee and the gross receipts tax are not included. The City also lists Florida Power and Light, and some Deltona homes are served by FPL at FPL's rates; we could not find a published split of homes between the two. Typical use, 1,104 kWh a month, is EIA's 2024 Florida residential average. Natural gas is not modeled. Insurance: Florida OIR's Volusia County average homeowners premium with wind coverage ($2,808, March 2026); flood insurance is separate and not included.
