Seniors 65 or older with a homestead exemption and 2026 household adjusted gross income of no more than $38,686 (a limit the Property Appraiser says will be adjusted by the end of January for the 2027 tax year) can get the low-income senior exemption, which applies to the county portion of the taxes and to city taxes in cities that adopted it. Broward County raised its amount to $50,000, and Pompano Beach is listed among the cities that enacted the ordinance increasing the senior exemption to $50,000. Pompano Beach also enacted the long-term residency senior exemption, which exempts city taxes for seniors who meet the age and income requirements, have lived in the home at least 25 years and whose property had a just value under $250,000 when they first applied.

How these numbers are made
  • Florida tax bills are public, but we calculate yours from public rates and the value you enter.
  • Property tax: 20.2992 mills in total for Broward County millage code 1511 (Pompano Beach - Hillsboro Inlet), 2026 final rates: Broward County 5.6628; School Board 6.2940 (split into 3.0460 required local effort and 3.2480 discretionary and capital from the Property Appraiser's proposed-millage table) plus 0.1587 school debt; Children's Services Council 0.4500; North Broward Hospital District 1.2391; Florida Inland Navigation District 0.0270; South Florida Water Management District 0.2301; Hillsboro Inlet District 0.1312; Pompano Beach EMS District 0.5000; City of Pompano Beach 5.1920 operating plus 0.4143 debt. Pompano Beach has two millage codes; Broward County parcel data (use code 01, single family) puts about 12,150 single-family parcels in code 1511 and about 6,390 in code 1512, which is the same without the Hillsboro Inlet District (20.1680 mills, 0.1312 less).
  • Homestead takes $25,000 off all taxes and up to $26,411 more off non-school taxes (we apply the full $26,411). The starting value is the Property Appraiser's 2026 median assessed value of Pompano Beach single-family homes ($297,855), which reflects the Save Our Homes cap; the average is $394,131 and the median market value is $429,060.
  • Tax bill flat charge: the city's fire rescue assessment of $391 per residential dwelling unit, set by the final assessment resolution (Resolution 2026-158) adopted September 14, 2026 and collected on the November tax bill. Pompano Beach has no city solid waste or stormwater assessment on the tax bill; both are city utility charges. Special districts (CDDs) are not common in Pompano Beach and are not included.
  • Water and sewer: City of Pompano Beach single-family rates for the charge effective 10/1/26 (fiscal year 2027) in the city code (§ 50.03 water tariff, from Ordinance 2024-10; § 51.05 wastewater tariff, as raised by Ordinance 2025-24). Water, 3/4-inch meter: $22.47 a month plus $3.90 per 1,000 gallons to 10,000, $5.35 to 15,000, $7.45 to 25,000 and $10.48 above; the Florida Department of Revenue's public service tax database lists a 6% Pompano Beach tax on water, so 6% is added to the water charges (not sewer). Sewer: $20.92 a month plus $4.88 per 1,000 gallons on up to 10,000 gallons. The city's rates-and-fees spreadsheet labels the same water figures one fiscal year earlier and still shows the pre-2025 sewer schedule; we follow the code. Stormwater: $7.74 a month per equivalent residential unit for FY 2027 (§ 53.12); we count one unit per house. Trash: the single-family curbside cart rate of $31.02 a month effective October 1, 2026, billed with the city water bill, plus the $1.25 monthly administrative service charge per customer account in § 96.13 (if the posted rate already includes it, this overstates by $15 a year); the city does not publish the cart size (96 gallons in our data is only a label key). Typical water use, 8,000 gallons a month, is the average single-family customer in the city's rate consultant letter. By the EPA water-system map and 2020 Census housing counts, about 79% of the city's housing units are in the City of Pompano Beach water system and about 19% in Broward County's BCWWS 2A system; those homes are shown at City rates.
  • Electricity: FPL rate RS-1 effective October 2026, $10.52 a month plus 12.258¢ per kWh up to 1,000 kWh and 14.258¢ above (energy, conservation, capacity, environmental, storm protection and fuel charges less the transition credit), plus Pompano Beach's 10% public service tax on electricity applied to the whole bill (Florida law exempts the fuel charge, so this slightly overstates it). FPL's franchise fee and gross receipts tax are not included. Typical use, 1,104 kWh a month, is EIA's 2024 Florida residential average. Gas is not modeled: few Pompano Beach homes heat with utility gas. Insurance: Florida OIR's Broward County average homeowners premium with wind coverage ($6,136, data as of March 31, 2026); flood insurance is a separate policy and is not included.
