Worth checking

  • Homeowners: claim the Arkansas homestead property tax credit

The state homestead property tax credit reduces the real property taxes assessed on the homestead of each property owner. Homeowners must apply for the credit with the county assessor's office.

How: Apply with the county Assessor's office.

  • Homeowners 65+ or disabled: freeze your assessed valueValue frozen

If you qualify for the homestead credit and are 65 or older or disabled, the taxable assessed value of your home can be frozen at its value at the next assessment date after you turn 65 or become disabled. Your tax can still change if millage rates change.

How: Apply for the freeze with the county assessor's office.

  • Yard waste pickup inside Bryant

Yard waste pickup occurs every Tuesday for Bryant residential customers.

How: Set items curbside, then notify the City so the crew can add your address to the route. The program was suspended on 9/17/2026 during a burn ban.

How these numbers are made
  • Property tax: Arkansas assesses a home at 20% of market value and applies the total millage. For the 2025 taxes (payable 2026), a home in the City of Bryant in Bryant School District 25 carries 53.5 mills: school 40.6, city 3.2 and Saline County 9.7. Voluntary millages are not included. We subtract the $600 homestead credit.
  • Water and sewer: City of Bryant rates billed January 1 to December 31, 2026 from the city's Water Department Rates page. Water: $15.69 minimum (includes the first 2,000 gallons) plus the $10.00 System Infrastructure Fee = $25.69 a month, then $0.754 per 100 gallons ($7.54 per 1,000). Sewer: $21.53 minimum (first 2,000 gallons) then $1.148 per 100 gallons ($11.48 per 1,000). A council-agenda ordinance copy shows slightly different 2026 figures; the city's rates page is used. The city has not published a typical use, so the page starts at its default.
  • Electricity: Entergy Arkansas Schedule RS present rates from its 2026 rate case notice (still pending), year-round weighted average of the first 1,500 kWh block, plus the formula rate plan and tax adjustment riders and the per-kWh riders. The 5.20% municipal franchise adjustment is shown separately as a percentage on energy bills. Typical use is the EIA 2024 residential average for Entergy Arkansas. Parts of the Bryant area may be served by First Electric Cooperative instead.
  • Gas: Summit Utilities Arkansas's gas supply rate is not published in a public document, so gas is priced at Arkansas's 2025 average residential price from EIA, which EIA defines as the total price paid. Summit's 5.20% Bryant franchise tax is applied by the page as a percentage on energy bills.
  • Garbage: Recycle Saline lists haulers for Bryant but no prices, so garbage is not in the total. Insurance is Arkansas's 2022 statewide average premium.
  • The statewide 20% assessment ratio is quoted from an Arkansas county assessor page; the Saline County Assessor homestead page lists a $675 credit, while the state's Act 330 of 2025 and the DFA relief page give $600, which is used.
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.
