How these numbers are made
- Property tax: City of Uvalde $0.5502 (2025 placeholder; 2026 proposed $0.5670, adopted rate not found), Uvalde County $0.5978 (adopted Sept. 28, 2026) and Uvalde CISD $0.6442 (adopted for 2026-27) per $100.
- Homestead: only the state $140,000 school exemption is applied; local city or county exemptions are not confirmed from an official source and are not included.
- Water: inside-city 3/4 inch meter. Each tier rate is the consumption fee plus the water rights fee (e.g. 2,001-20,000 gal: $1.48 + $6.01). The first 2,000 gallons carry only the $3.75 water rights fee; the consumption fee is in the base. An 'EEA Habitat Fee $1.67' is listed with no unit and is not included.
- Sewer: $17.10 monthly fee plus $2.45 per 1,000 gallons, modeled on water used; the city bills on 80% of the December-February average, so a bill will differ.
- Gas: the City of Uvalde runs the gas utility ($10.41 monthly service fee plus a monthly fuel cost adjustment), but its per-unit gas rate is not published on its rate page, so gas is left out of the totals.
- Electricity uses the Texas statewide average price as a stand-in (Uvalde is served by AEP Texas wires with retail providers and by Medina Electric Cooperative in parts); insurance is the 2022 Texas statewide figure. The median value is a Census market value, not assessed.
- Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.

Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
