How these numbers are made
- Not included: MUD, PID and Consolidated Drainage District taxes, which many League City homes pay (Galveston CAD's 2025 table lists the drainage district at $0.11555 per $100 and MUD rates from $0.36 to $1.39 per $100). Homes in the Harris County part of the city pay Harris County taxes instead of Galveston County's.
- League City bills water, sewer and garbage together on one city utility bill, so we calculate yours from the city's published rates and what you tell us.
- Water: the FY 2026 column of the city's multi-year schedule (steps take effect each April; this column runs to April 2027): $9.69 a month for a 5/8 or 3/4 inch meter plus $3.25, $7.15, $9.50 and $11.53 per 1,000 gallons in blocks at 3,000, 10,000 and 25,000 gallons. Sewer: $17.38 a month plus $3.13 per 1,000 gallons up to 3,000 gallons and $5.80 from 3,001 to 10,000 gallons; the schedule lists no residential rate above 10,000 gallons, so we stop there. The calculator takes a fixed charge plus one per-unit rate, so we use $17.38 minus 3 x ($5.80 - $3.13) = $9.37 as the fixed part; that is exact from 3,000 gallons up and a little low below. Garbage: AmeriWaste's $21.69 a month residential rate (from May 1, 2025), which the city says includes fees and sales tax.
- Electricity: League City is in the competitive ERCOT market, where you pick a retail provider and Texas-New Mexico Power (TNMP) delivers the power; some parts of the city may be served by CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric instead (check your bill). Rather than pick one plan, we use EIA's average price paid by Texas residential customers for January to July 2026, 16.06 cents per kWh, which already includes delivery charges, with no separate monthly charge; your plan may cost more or less. Typical use: 1,096 kWh a month, EIA's 2024 Texas residential average.
- Gas: CenterPoint's Texas Coast residential rate (R-2099-I-GRIP 2026): $24.83 a month plus $0.15970 per Ccf and the October 2026 gas cost of $0.86578 per Ccf (Texas Coast, 14.95 pressure base, the base CenterPoint lists for residential gas cost there), converted to therms (1.037 therms per Ccf). Typical use: 32.1 therms a month, EIA's 2024 Texas residential average (197,086 million cubic feet over 5,308,705 customers). Tax and franchise adjustments are left out.
- Property tax: 2026 rates per $100: City of League City $0.356505 (ordinance adopted Sept. 8, 2026), Galveston County $0.324068 including Road & Flood (proposed in the county's notice; local news reports the court approved slightly more than 32.4 cents) and Clear Creek ISD $0.969 (2.04 percent in all). Exemptions: $140,000 school homestead, Clear Creek ISD's 5% local homestead exemption, and the 20% city and 20% county homestead exemptions. Galveston CAD lists a $5,000 minimum for each of the three percentage exemptions. The county's 20% comes from Galveston CAD's 2025 table, the latest it has published.
- The starting value, $398,193, is the Galveston CAD 2026 average homestead assessed value listed in the 2026 League City truth-in-taxation worksheet posted by the Galveston County Tax Office; homes in the Harris County part of the city averaged $497,949 on the Harris CAD roll. Parts of League City are in Dickinson ISD (homes there also pay the College of the Mainland tax) or other school districts, some neighborhoods pay a MUD, PID or the Galveston County Consolidated Drainage District, and none of those are included here. Insurance is a Texas statewide average; Galveston County homes may also need separate windstorm and flood coverage.
