How these numbers are made
- Water: City of Seguin residential rates from its utility rate sheet ($30.81 capacity charge per meter plus $5.36, $6.12 and $6.90 per 1,000 gallons); the sheet's water heading is dated October 1, 2025 and the electric, sewer and garbage headings October 1, 2026. The city publishes no typical use, so the page starts at 9 CCF. Some Seguin addresses are served by Springs Hill Water Corporation, the Schertz Seguin Local Government Corporation or another supplier instead.
- Sewer: $42.35 covers the first 2,000 gallons, then $6.35 per 1,000 gallons up to the $80.45 maximum at 8,000 gallons of water used. The sheet gives no averaging months, so the calculator applies the sewer rate to monthly water use. Stormwater: $3 a month per equivalent residential unit, the city's stated residential fee.
- Garbage: $16.80 for the garbage cart plus $3.75 for the recycle cart, with the 8.25% sales tax the sheet says residential customers pay on garbage and recycling ($22.25 a month). The sheet's $1.50 Hazardous Waste Service line is a separate utility fee. Ordinance 2026-008 makes the household hazardous waste fee a monthly per-household charge; the sheet does not say whether sales tax applies to it, so none is added. Electricity: City of Seguin residential rate, $16.76 plus $.04062 and the $.0613 PCRF per kWh; typical use is EIA's 2024 Texas residential average. Some addresses are served by GVEC at different rates. Gas: CenterPoint R-2099-U commodity charge plus the October 2026 South Texas gas cost, divided by 1.037 to convert Ccf to therms; tax and franchise fee adjustments are left out.
- Property tax: 2026 rates per $100 from the Guadalupe County Tax Assessor-Collector's 2026 rate list: City of Seguin 0.5294, Guadalupe County 0.2964, Lateral Road 0.0529 and Seguin ISD 1.0828, which the list marks 'pending election'; Seguin ISD's board adopted $1.0828 on August 12, 2026. Exemptions from the appraisal district's 2025 table: $140,000 school; Guadalupe County 1% ($5,000 minimum, also on the Lateral Road) and the Lateral Road's extra $3,000; the City of Seguin has no general homestead exemption.
- These rates are for the Guadalupe County part of Seguin; small parts may be in Navarro ISD or Marion ISD, and some newer areas may be in a MUD or water district with its own tax. The starting value is the Census median (a market value); your appraised value may differ.
