How these numbers are made
  • Property tax: the 2026 state rate (10.3 cents per $100) and City of La Grange rate (18.2 cents, from the September 3, 2026 second-reading ordinance), plus 2025 Kentucky rate book rates for Oldham County fiscal court (8.7), ambulance (4.74), extension (1.4), health (2.5) and library (3.9), and Oldham County Schools at the 82.0 cents adopted September 17, 2026 (the 2025 rate was 81.2). The LaGrange Fire District (10 cents) is not included: no official district boundary or 2026 rate was found that says whether city homes are in it (about $283 a year at the median value if they are). The starting value is the Census median, $283,200; your PVA assessment may differ. Kentucky's $49,100 homestead exemption is only for owners 65 and older or totally disabled, so it is a tip.
  • Water and sewer: La Grange Utilities Commission inside-city residential rates effective July 1, 2026: minimum $11.80 and $8.25 per 1,000 gallons for water; minimum $17.26 and $7.71 per 1,000 gallons for sewer. The minimum is modeled as a fixed charge with all gallons billed at the volume rate. The utility publishes no typical use and does not say whether the minimum includes any gallons, so every gallon is billed at the volume rate; the page starts at 9 CCF (about 6,700 gallons).
  • Trash: Republic Services curb pickup, $12.14 a month, billed by the utility with water and sewer. Back door pickup is $13.91 a month (not offered as a size).
  • Electricity and gas: LG&E Rate RS and RGS from the August 2026 tariffs and billing adjustments, with the Oldham County Schools 3% utility tax added. Starting use is the 2024 LG&E residential average (EIA) and the 2025 Kentucky gas average. Insurance is the 2022 (latest official figure found) Kentucky statewide average HO-3 premium.
  • Gas omitted: no official source shows LG&E gas service reaches La Grange (tariff lists Oldham County only).
