How these numbers are made
- Property tax: the 2026 state rate (10.3 cents per $100) plus the 2025 Bullitt County rates (fiscal court 9.0, extension 0.9, health 2.4, library 5.2), Bullitt County Schools 75.7, the Mount Washington Fire District 20.0 (it covers all of the city) and the City of Mount Washington 8.7 cents, on the value you enter. The Plum Creek watershed levy (1.0) covers only part of the county and is not included. The starting value is the Census median home value, $268,200; your PVA assessment may differ. The homestead exemption is for owners 65+ or disabled, so it is a tip, not taken off.
- Water and sewer: the city's rate chart as of July 1, 2024 (the chart may be out of date: the trash line on it has since changed, so water and sewer may have too; confirm with the water company). Water is the $30.13 minimum for the first 2,499 gallons plus $7.75 per 1,000 gallons, with the 3% school tax added (residential) and the $3.00 administrative fee folded into the fixed charge. Sewer is $30.13 plus $7.75 per 1,000 gallons over 2,499 for city accounts. Homes on Shepherdsville sewer or rural water are priced differently. No typical use is published, so the page starts at 9 CCF.
- Trash: the city water page's $23.84 trash line (July 2024 rate chart, city accounts only). WDRB reported Rumpke at $20.50 a month for the 95-gallon trash cart plus $11.70 a month for the 65-gallon recycling cart ($32.20) on the water bill from a July 1 start, but that article can no longer be fetched and the year is unconfirmed, so the figure is not used; call City Hall to confirm.
- Electricity and gas: LG&E Rate RS and Rate RGS with the August 2026 billing adjustments, as in the St. Matthews page; Salt River Electric serves some addresses in and around the city and is not modeled. Starting use is EIA's 2024 LG&E residential average and Kentucky's 2025 gas average. A school utility tax on energy bills is not sourced here and is not added.
