How these numbers are made
  • Lyndon is a city inside Louisville Metro. Its homes pay the state rate, Louisville Metro's general rate, the city's own 13 cents per $100, the St. Matthews / Lyndon fire district rate and the JCPS school rate. They do not pay the Urban Services District rate. The school rate is the 2025 rate (the 2026-27 rate was not yet posted), the city's rate is from its audit for the year ended June 30, 2025 and the fire rate is from the 2025 PVA schedule.
  • Property tax starts at the Census median value of owner-occupied homes in Lyndon ($276,800); your PVA assessment may differ. Kentucky's $49,100 homestead exemption is only for owners 65 and older or totally disabled, so it is a tip, not taken off the typical bill. The city's 10% discount (by August 1) and the county's 2% discount (by December 1) are not taken off the typical bill.
  • Water: Louisville Water Company's 2026 residential rates for a 5/8-inch meter, $17.82 a month plus $1.70 per 1,000 gallons for the first 2,000, $4.70 for the next 8,000 and $4.87 above 10,000. Starting use is Louisville Water's average customer, 4,000 gallons a month (about 5.3 CCF).
  • Sewer: MSD's rates from September 1, 2026, $24.48 service charge plus the $20.01 residential infrastructure surcharge a month and $6.56 per 1,000 gallons. MSD's drainage service charge of $15.39 a month per single-family parcel is added to the fixed amount: MSD's schedule defines the drainage service area as all of Jefferson County except Anchorage, Jeffersontown, St. Matthews and Shively, and Lyndon is not on that list. We assume a typical home is a single-family parcel.
  • Trash: Rumpke collects trash, yard waste and recycling for the city and we found no resident trash fee, so trash is shown as $0. Electricity: LG&E Rate RS from August 14, 2026 with the August 2026 adjustments, using EIA utility average use. Gas is not included: this page is electric only. LG&E distributes gas in Jefferson County, and a home that heats with gas will have a gas bill on top of these figures. Insurance is the 2022 Kentucky average HO-3 premium (NAIC via Triple-I), dated and possibly below current premiums.
