How these numbers are made
  • Property tax: the 2025 Mercer County abstract of ratables breakdown for Trenton per $100 of assessed value (county 0.878, open space 0.051, school 1.148, municipal purpose 3.758, municipal library 0.055; total 5.890). Mercer County's 2026 breakdown (total 6.201) could not be downloaded by the checker, applied to the state's 2026 average residential assessment of $64,862.
  • Water: Trenton Water Works rates effective October 2, 2026 (billing cycles move to them over several weeks): $83.20 a quarter / 3 = $27.73 a month; $2.22 per CCF for the first 15 CCF a quarter (5 a month), $3.33 above. Typical use 12 CCF a quarter = 4 CCF a month.
  • Sewer: the city code's per-100-cubic-feet rate for a 5/8-inch meter ($3.15 per 100 cubic feet = per CCF) in the schedule effective July 1, 2010, the latest schedule in the code; a newer ordinance may not be reflected. The $20 quarterly minimum is not added (it applies only to very low use). The page prices sewer per CCF of water used.
  • Garbage: no residential trash fee was found on the city's pages, so it is modelled as $0; the city's code or budget may charge one through the tax bill. Recycling is run by the Mercer County Improvement Authority.
  • Electricity and gas: PSE&G Rate Schedule RS / RSG with default supply, same tariff components as other PSE&G cities (6-month weighted summer/winter averages, SUT included). Insurance: NJ 2022 statewide average premium (NAIC via III).
  • Nothing here is legal, tax or insurance advice.
