Ways to pay less
- Seniors: ECUA Lifeline water and sewer rates. Qualifying senior citizens pay a minimum monthly water rate of $13.50, which includes 6,000 gallons, and a minimum monthly sewer rate of $17.40, which includes 6,000 gallons. How: Apply by contacting the Northwest Florida Area Agency on Aging at 850-494-7100.
- One-time water leak adjustment. After a houseline water leak is discovered, ECUA may adjust the excess water and sewer charges; the adjustment is offered once for the lifetime of the account. How: Call ECUA Customer Service at 476-0480; a signed form and proof that the leak was repaired are required.
- Check indoor and outdoor fixtures before sewer averaging. Annual sewer charges are based on the average gallons of water used during the winter months; the first meter reading on or after November 15th starts the sewer averaging period. How: Check plumbing fixtures for leaks, since the averaging period sets your sewer charges for the next twelve months.
