How these numbers are made
- Property tax uses Indiana's 1% homestead cap on gross assessed value; the 2026 certified gross rates are 2.5938 per $100 (Bargersville Town, White River) and 2.7317 (Bargersville Town, Union Twp, BFPD), so the cap binds. Referendum levies sit outside the cap and were not checked. The starting value is a Census-based market median, not an assessed value. The Homestead Standard Deduction and supplemental deduction are not applied, so the tax shown is the cap on the full value.
- Water is the town's schedule effective January 1, 2023: $7.33 monthly base for a 5/8 or 3/4 inch meter plus $6.22 per 1,000 gallons. The town's website still lists this ordinance as current.
- Sewer: the 2022 schedule was $13.57 base plus $10.31 per 1,000 gallons (2,000-gallon minimum $34.19); the 2026 increase of 9% to $37.27 (2,000 gal) and $59.75 (4,000 gal) gives $11.24 per 1,000 gallons and a $14.79 base. The ordinance text itself was not found online; the figures come from the Daily Journal report. A further step is reported for Jan. 1, 2027 ($40.62 at 2,000 gal, $65.12 at 4,000 gal) and is not in the monthly figures; the 2022 ordinance (2022-14) is the last one the town links.
- Electricity uses the town utility's 2023 residential blocks (Ordinance 2022-13) and applies only to the town's electric customers (about 3,566 in Bargersville and Whiteland); other homes in the area are served by other providers. The purchased power cost adjustment tracker is not published online and is not included. Stormwater is $8.40 per month for 1 ERU in 2026.
- Not in the total: electricity (see above), trash (residents hire private haulers; no town price exists and the town-wide contract is targeted for January 2027) and natural gas (provider and rates not confirmed). Water is the town's 2023 schedule; the town code's fire-protection surcharge amount was not found online.
- Water and electric rates are the Phase II schedules in Ordinances 2022-12 and 2022-13; the town electric utility serves Bargersville and Whiteland, so other-provider homes pay different rates.

Cities bill differently (some put trash on the tax bill, some cover more services), so a higher number isn't necessarily worse. The property tax rate is compared instead of dollars because house values differ.
