How these numbers are made
- Property tax: Greenwood County 2025 millage from the SC Association of Counties, as decimals per dollar of assessed value: city 0.1279, county base 0.0736, Greenwood 50 school bonds 0.0580, metro sewer debt 0.0086; each multiplied by the 4% legal-residence assessment ratio. School operations millage (0.1303) is not charged on a legal residence and is left out. Countywide school 0.0390, vocational 0.0094, library 0.0067 and special education 0.0054 are included at the same 4% ratio, because no source shows the legal-residence exemption covers them. 2026 rates were not published on a page that loads.
- Not modeled: the local option sales tax credit and any fire or subdivision fees. The county listing shows no countywide solid waste or landfill fee.
- Water: CPW inside-city residential rates effective July 1, 2025, with the 3/4 x 5/8 inch meter charge. CPW also applies a water production cost adjustment whose current monthly factor is not published, so bills can differ from these base rates. Sewer: Greenwood Metropolitan District 7/1/26 rates, monthly charge $24.01 plus $4.95 per 100 CF plus $0.15 sewer viability charge per 100 CF.
- Electricity: CPW residential schedule E-R base charge and energy charge. CPW adds a purchased power cost adjustment whose current factor is not published, so real bills differ. Gas: CPW schedule G100 facilities charge $11.00 plus $0.4301 per CCF; the monthly purchased gas cost and pipeline demand charge are set by formula and are not published as a fixed per-CCF figure, so real gas bills run higher. Laurens Electric and Duke Energy serve some addresses outside CPW territory.
- Trash: the city provides a roll cart per single-family home and lists no residential fee. Insurance is the 2022 statewide average; no newer official figure was found.
- Insurance is the 2022 statewide average (Triple-I, latest year on its state table); no newer official SC figure was found.
- Gas: PGC and PDC are set monthly by formula in separate CPW schedules and are not included in the G100 figures.
