Ways to pay less

  • Declare your home as your domicile to skip sales tax on utilities. Kentucky residents can file a Declaration of Domicile so that sewer, water and fuel (including natural gas and electricity) bought for their home are classified as exempt from Kentucky sales and use tax. The exemption starts with the first full billing cycle after the utility receives the declaration. How: Submit Kentucky form 51A380 to each utility provider (NPU has the form on its utility forms page).
  • Low income: Delta gas bill credit. Delta's Energy Assistance Program funds a bill credit for enrolled low-income residential customers, subject to available funding. How: Enroll through your local community action agency.
