Budget deficit and Measure I sales tax

Where it standsThe city projects a $27.6 million deficit and has put Measure I, a 1-cent sales tax for 13 years, and Measure J, a hotel tax increase, on the ballot.

City charter (Measure K)

Where it standsMeasure K asks voters to make Orange, a general-law city since 1886, a charter city; the council placed it on the ballot 4-3.

Car-purchase rebate program

Where it standsIn August 2026 the council approved, 4-2, a rebate for car buyers at five Orange franchised dealerships, contingent on voters passing the sales tax.
