Ways to pay less

  • Seniors 65+: property tax freeze. Homeowners 65 or older can have the property tax on their home frozen at the amount owed in the year they first qualify, even if the rate goes up or the county reappraises. Tax year 2026 income limits: $63,470 for Wilson County and $51,790 for the City of Lebanon. How: Apply with the Wilson County Trustee (615-444-0894, option 2); for city taxes you may also contact the city's collecting official.
  • Disabled veterans: state tax relief. Disabled veteran homeowners who meet the state's disability requirements, and some surviving spouses, can get property tax relief; the maximum market value on which it is calculated is $175,000. There is no age or income restriction for disabled veterans. How: Contact the Wilson County Trustee (615-444-0894, option 2: Tax Freeze, Tax Relief, Disabled Veteran Tax Benefits); veterans complete a 2026 F-16 consent form (surviving spouses an F-16S).
