North Port property tax: where it goes

A North Port house pays 1.434% of its taxable value in property tax, plus flat charges on the same bill. For a house at $362,500 of market value with the homestead exemption, that's about $5,328 a year.

Tax is levied on taxable value: assessed value minus exemptions (Save Our Homes limits yearly increases in a homestead's assessed value to 3% or CPI, whichever is less).

The Sarasota County Tax Collector's combined 2026 millage table is not posted yet (its latest is the 2025 table certified 10/03/2025). The City of North Port rate (3.7667 mills, Ord. 2026-28, passed on first reading Sept. 10 and set for final reading Sept. 24, 2026; Legistar does not yet show the Sept. 24 action), the School Board (Sept. 15, 2026) and SWFWMD rates are final; the Sarasota County rate is its July 2026 not-to-exceed total (3.3833 mills), the hospital district rate is the preliminary 2026-27 rate (1.0420, unchanged) and WCIND is its proposed 0.0394. Final rates cannot be higher than the not-to-exceed rates.
