City of Redding Water Utility
City of Redding Water Utility, on the monthly City utility bill. Rates effective January 1, 2026: a $31.66 monthly fixed meter charge for a single-family home with a 5/8 or 3/4 inch meter, plus a uniform $2.13 per CCF for all water used.

- In 2025, surface water from the Sacramento River and Whiskeytown Reservoir made up 75% of the treated supply, and groundwater from the Redding Groundwater Basin made up 25%.
- Quality
- In 2025, Redding's tap water met all USEPA and State health standards, but some Enterprise groundwater wells, which run about six months a year, exceeded secondary limits for manganese. Secondary standards cover taste and appearance, not health risks.
- Lead
- In July 2025, 30 lead samples were collected; the 90th percentile level was 3.21 μg/L and no site exceeded the 15 μg/L action level.
- Hardness
- Average hardness in 2025 was 38.8 mg/L in surface water and 86.40 mg/L in groundwater.
Bella Vista Water District
Bella Vista Water District bills every two months (rates effective May 1, 2026): a $60.25 base rate for a Class 30 (3/4-inch) meter, a $14.00 Water Treatment Plant Improvement Loan Repayment charge, and $1.00 per HCF.

Sewer
City of Redding Wastewater Utility: single-family dwellings pay a fixed monthly service charge of $73.58 (effective January 1, 2026) on the City utility bill.
Ways to pay less
- Heat pump water heater rebate. REU pays a $1,000 rebate for replacing a natural gas water heater with a qualifying heat pump water heater (Energy Star, UEF 3.09 or higher, at least 40 gallons).
