Garbage, recycling and organic carts come in one standard size; a 32-gallon cart needs an exemption application to the Waste Management Division.
Ways to pay less
- Three free extra-garbage stickers a year. The City allows 3 stickers each calendar year; an extra bag with a sticker next to the cart on the regular collection day is picked up at no extra charge. How: Pick up stickers at the Finance Department, 1001 W Center Street.
- Seniors 60+ on very low income: reduced trash rate. The City's 2023 rate study lists a recommended Senior Low-Income (SRLI) residential rate for people 60 or older with income below the very low-income level; the recommended schedule shows $29.36 a month in one of its columns.
