The Town's residential rates are set by trash barrel size (40, 60 or 95 gallons); extra barrels and the larger organics barrel cost more.
Ways to pay less
- Free neighborhood cleanup and compost giveaway. The Town holds neighborhood cleanup days at Lion's Park, Outer Hwy 18, where residents can drop off bulky items, metal, tires and household trash for free (not electronic or hazardous waste), with compost available at no additional charge. The remaining 2026 date is November 21, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. How: Call the Town's Solid Waste Division at (760) 240-7569 for details.
- Vacant house: trash and sewer vacancy credit. You may be exempt from Town trash and sewer fees while your property is vacant for at least 60 consecutive days; the credit lasts up to 90 days and must be requested before the property is vacant. How: Send the Town's Sanitation Vacancy Credit form before the house becomes vacant.
