Benbrook property tax: where it goes

A Benbrook house pays 2.074% of its taxable value in property tax. For a house at $296,400 of market value with the homestead exemption, that's about $4,482 a year.

Tax is levied on assessed valuation: rates are per $100 of assessed valuation, and exemptions come off the value first.

The city's property tax page and the Comptroller's tables show 2025 rates; we found no official 2026 rate table for Benbrook, Fort Worth ISD, the county, JPS or the water district.

Ways to pay less

  • Seniors 65+ or disabled: extra school exemption. School districts must give owners 65 or older or disabled an additional $60,000 homestead exemption on top of the $140,000 general one. How: File the residence homestead exemption application (Form 50-114) with the appraisal district.
  • Disabled veterans rated 100%. A disabled veteran awarded 100 percent disability compensation for a service-connected disability, and rated 100 percent disabled or individually unemployable, gets a total property tax exemption on the homestead. How: The application is Form 50-114. Exemption applications are filed with the appraisal district in your county.
  • Seniors 65+: city over-65 exemption and tax freeze. The City of Benbrook lists an over-65 exemption of $30,000 and a freeze for over 65.
  • Homestead cap: appraised value rises at most 10% a year. Once you have qualified your home for homestead exemptions in the prior and current year, its appraised value may not increase more than 10 percent per year (plus new improvements).
